Chicken salt

Jump to recipe

I had heard of the delights of this Australian staple and had to give it a go. I haven’t seen anywhere that I could purchase or try it but was curious as to its cult-like status.

After some research, and some experimenting, this is how I want chicken salt to taste. It’s savoury and not overly salty, with a hint of smoke and depth from the two kinds of paprika - sweet and smoked.

The chicken bouillon I used has MSG in it - a wonderful flavour enhancer. While I would recommend keeping it in, I appreciate some people would prefer not to, and feel free to use an MSG-free bouillon if you feel so inclined.

It’s delicious on fries, although it can be used in place of any seasoning salt. Hit the fries when hot and season liberally. Enjoy!
